Being back here in Thailand this second (well third) time after living in China for 2 years -- it's a totally different experience. It feels like flying down to L.A. for a week from San Francisco.

There sure are a lot of fat white tourists in Thailand (just because they're the ones that are easy to spot). On Phuket there were a lot of fat white old people. Here, at least in these backpacker parts, there are strangely a lot of fat white young people.

I saw a girl (sounded British) with her family waiting for the same flight from Kunming as I was. Her pants didn't fit. Make any plumber proud. Is that a British thing? In any case, it's not hard to see why (say) China would have this view of western tourists:
